Visual Indicators and Trust Signals
When visitors access a website secured with a DV certificate, they see the standard security indicators that have become familiar to internet users: the padlock icon in the address bar and the "https://" protocol in the URL. These visual cues provide immediate assurance that the connection is encrypted and that data transmitted between the browser and server is protected from eavesdropping. For the vast majority of web users, these indicators provide sufficient confidence to proceed with their intended activities.
However, DV certificates do have limitations in terms of identity verification. When users click on the padlock icon to view certificate details, they'll only see information about the domain itself, not the organization behind it. The certificate will show that it's valid for the specific domain and that it was issued by a recognized Certificate Authority, but it won't display company names, addresses, or other organizational details. For many use cases, this limitation is perfectly acceptable, but it's important to understand when higher levels of validation might be necessary.
